Great Guitar Song and Chord Sites, Plus Ideas for Beginners and Beyond

It can takes ages to trawl through the Internet to find great guitar song sites. Here a few of the best are gathered, plus ideas about ways of learning.

When you begin playing the guitar you’ll find that you are spurred on to practice and inspired more if you learn actual songs or tunes. Being able to recognise what you are playing makes it more fun to learn, and easier than simply concentrating on guitar scales and chord after chord. You will of course, need to learn a few chords before you can play a song, but many songs only contain a few simple ones.

The first website you may like to visit is Chordie, com. This is a great site as you can join for free and begin collecting songs you like in a virtual folder, and view other peoples and add their songs to your own songbook. Begin by choosing songs which are simple with a few chords, and then add a few which you want to work towards learning as you improve.

Once you have a song folder at Chordie you can go back to it whenever you like to practice and add more. But it’s worth branching out and looking at other guitar sites too. PJ’s Guitar Chords boasts 1,943 guitar songs with lyrics and chords to date, and is a great resource for of players of all levels.

At PJ’s you’ll find popular songs, modern and old fashioned ones of all types from rock and pop, to country, blues, jazz and folk. Downloading songs to play is free, and you can select them according to your favorite artists.

Betty Lou’s site is great if you are looking for songs which are crowd pleasers that are fun to play. She provides free lyrics and chords to everything from show tunes and movie themes to country and western, so her sites well worth a look.

The Ultimate Guitar Tabs Archive is a modern, up to date site where you can search for songs or browse. They provide tabs and chords for many songs, and lyrics, and rock and pop, plus relaxing music, country and folk.

Other methods of learning how to play songs you like include using books, and videos, as-well as YouTube. The following video is meant for beginners and explains everything right from the basics.

This next video is a lesson on how to play, In My Life, by the Beatles.

By searching on the Internet you will easily be able to find even more websites and lessons to help you play, but the ones already mentioned should keep you busy for some time to come.
